Health and Safety Policy

Springbucks Gymnastics Club is committed to ensuring that those working with children and vulnerable adults adopt best practice to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the participants, coaches and officials. Any concerns about health and safety issues should be reported directly to Ruth Drysdale-Middleton (Club Health and Safety Officer) on 07885 857240 or by emailing her via the private contact form on the Health and Safety Officer page.

The club will endeavour to promote the highest standards of care for all members, coaches and officials by:

  • Providing the correct qualified coach : pupil ratio
  • Working to session plans / badge schemes
  • Risk assessments in place and up to date
  • Equipment kept in good condition and year written equipment checks and sessionly visual checks by supervising coach
  • Equipment set up safely and equipment set up checked regularly during sessions
  • Pre-session safety check list filled out each session by supervising coach
  • Club rules / codes of conduct in place and regularly reinforced
  • The adoption of the UK Gymnastics Health & Safety and Welfare Policy
  • The appointment of a Health and Safety officer to review and update policies / practices as necessary
  • Ensuring that key members of staff are suitably trained and that all staff are aware of Child Protection and Health, Safety and Welfare issues and have read relevant club policies
  • Ensuring that best practice coaching guidelines are followed at all times
  • Ensuring skills are taught safely and progressively and children are only allowed to try moves they are ready to learn
  • Ensuring that a minimum of two responsible adults are present at all training sessions or events
  • Ensuring a qualified first aider and first aid kit is present at all club sessions
  • Ensuring reporting procedures are followed for any accidents or incidents
